Writing Practices of Student-Athletes”. Dr. Rifenburg will be speaking on his new book regarding student literacy within the university athletics department in addition to his work with student athletes at Auburn, Oklahoma, and the University of North Georgia.
The “Short List” book club will be meeting the 2nd Thursday of each month from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. This book club will discuss a different short story each month. Selections will be made from masters of the past as well as contemporary authors and will focus on various genres. The monthly selections will be printed off a few weeks prior to the discussion,and participants may stop at the front desk to pick up a copy of each month’s story. November’s Selection: “The Bear Went Over the Mountain” by Alice Munro.

The Happy Bookers Book Discussion group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month. The group chooses a different book each month to discuss, such as bestsellers, award winners, or literary favorites. November’s selection is: “Behind the Beautiful forevers” by Katherine Boo. New members are welcome.
This is a driver safety course conducted by AARP volunteers. Learn about current rules of the road and defensive driving techniques. Those 25 and older who complete the class are eligible for a discount on their auto insurance. The course is specifically designed for drivers over the age of 50, but it is an excellent review of Georgia laws and safe driving practices for everyone.
