Upcoming Library Board Meetings
Yvonne will discuss how genetic genealogy (using DNA results with traditional genealogy) and elements of the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) can be used to crumble brick walls and assert proof that your ancestors are truly yours. This presentation is geared toward beginners and intermediates in genetic genealogy. Join us at 10:30 for coffee and light refreshments, and the presentation will begin at 11:00 a.m. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Lumpkin County Library. We’re giving away door prizes, including TWO AncestryDNA Kits! You must register by Thursday, October 4th in order to attend. Call us at 706-864-3668 to sign up.
This course will teach participants how to use Ancestry Library Edition, which is free when accessed on any of the library’s public computers, to research their family history. This will be a two-hour class. Register by calling the library at 706-864-3668.
Join us monthly as we read and discuss books about Georgia, set in Georgia and by Georgia authors. We are all about Georgia! This month’s selections will be The Making of a Southerner by Katherine Du Pre Lumpkin and Peachtree Street, USA by Celestine Sibley.
