The Dawson County Library, in partnership with the North Georgia Conservation Coalition, hosted the 1st Annual Earth Day celebration on April 20th. Over 400 visitors attended the event.
Earth friendly organizations such as the Sierra Club, Keep Dawson Beautiful, and Go Green Environments Club demonstrated ways to help the environment.
Dawson County students were able to enter an Earth Day poster contest, and their entries were on display during the event. The grand prize winner received a cash prize, and the winning artwork will be put on a t-shirt for next year’s event.
Visitors got to enjoy different varieties of local honey and went home with free plants donated by Abbott Creek Nursery. The day was filled with learning opportunities and lots of fun for all who attended.
