Chestatee Regional Library System offers a variety of programs for children of all ages including:

Totally Toddlers and Movers and Shakers story time programs

"Tween" programs for children in grades 3-5

Exciting family programs like Touch-A-Truck, Pirates and Princess Day, and Gingerbread House Workshops

Books for Pre-Schoolers

The Lumpkin County Literacy Coalition is pleased to offer Dolly Parton's Imagination Library program for preschool children. Lumpkin Literacy provides a free, age-appropriate book per month to every registered child in the county from birth to age 5. Sign up at the Lumpkin County Library or register your child online here.

READing Paws Print E-mail

Open to 1st graders and up, READing Paws helps children build self confidence in a comfortable, accepting environment. This is an opportunity for your child to practice his or her reading skills for fifteen minutes, working one-on-one with a therapy dog and his or her trainer.

Lumpkin County Library: 1st Saturday of the month from 1 - 2 PM

Dawson County Library: 3rd Saturday of the month from 11 AM-12 PM

Story Times Print E-mail

TOTALLY TODDLERS is designed for children ages 2 to 3. The program is shorter than Movers and Shakers Story Time and offers age appropriate books, songs, and fingerplays. Children in this age range tend to have a shorter attention span, so several short activities are used between each book in order to hold the child's interest.

Dawson County Library - 11 AM Wednesdays

  • Fall 2014: September 10 - October 15

MOVERS AND SHAKERS is intended for children ages  4 to 5. We hope this will be a fun and exciting experience for you and your child.  The programs are designed to best serve groups of not more than 20 children.  No pre-registration is required, but groups larger than five are requested to call at least two days in advance.  The programs  last 45 minutes to an hour and may  include songs, finger plays and crafts in addition to the stories.

Lumpkin County Library - 11 AM Wednesdays

  • Fall 2014: September 10 - October 15

* Lumpkin County Library Movers and Shakers is open to ages 2-5.

 
Dawson County Wee Books Program Print E-mail

Wee Books is a literacy program that provides Dawson County children with a free, age appropriate book a month, each year until they reach the age of five. The book arrives by mail each month, creates excitement, and a love for reading. If you are interested in registering your child for this program:
