FAQ

FAQ
Are you open on weekends?
We currently have two branches open to assist patrons on Saturdays.
The Dawson County Library Branch and the Lumpkin County Library Branch are open Saturdays from 9:00am-2:30pm.
Can I pay my overdue fines online?
PINES fines may be paid at any participating library. If the patron's home library is configured to accept
online credit card payments, then that patron may also log in to the “My Account” section of the OPAC
and pay their bills online.

We are happy to accept credit card payments through the PINES system for all branches of the Chestatee Regional Library System. Should you wish to pay your overdue fees online, simply Login to your PINES Account. You can do this by accessing the "My Account" tab on our website.

Can I put the Zoo Pass DVD on hold?
Unfortunately, due to the immense popularity of the Zoo Pass Program we are unable to place a hold or process a renewal on the Zoo Pass DVD.
Can I renew my library card online?
There's more than one way to keep access to all of the products and services we have to offer.

In Person
Simply stop by one of our branches with your Photo ID and Proof of Address. We would be happy to update your account while you're visiting.

Online
Thirty days before your library card is set to expire a button will appear on your PINES Account. If you have an active account with no fines or blocks, this button allows you to renew online. If your address has changed, the renewal is temporary (up to thirty days), at which time you will need to bring new proof of address into a library branch for verification. If your address has not changed, one push of the digital button renews your library card. Simple!
Do I need a Library Card to use your Computers?
No! Of course, we encourage all of our Patrons within the PINES system to obtain a Library Card. However, our Library Staff are able to assist you with a Temporary Pass for our Computers should you require one.
How long will you keep an item on hold?
Per PINES Library standards: Items placed on hold will be kept on the holds shelf for a maximum of seven (7) open business days before being returned to the owning library or forwarded to the next person waiting in line for a hold.
How much do you charge for Document Services (copying, scanning, etc.)?
You can find a full list of our available Document Services and associated costs here.

Where is the Chestatee Region located?
County Map (1)The Chestatee Region describes the scenic area surrounding the Chestatee River in North Georgia. The river itself runs from northeastern Lumpkin County, through Dahlonega, and under the northern endpoint of Georgia 400. It originally continued past the southern corner of the county, forming the entire eastern border of southern Dawson County. Our library system contains the two counties which encapsulate this territory: Lumpkin County and Dawson County.
