Join us at the Lumpkin County Library for a Sensory Storytime hosted by Lumpkin County ConnectAbility! All ages, parents, and siblings are welcome to join. During this program there will be books, songs, and an activity that involves the senses – beyond just sight and sound. Sensory storytimes provide a safe and welcoming environment for children with developmental disabilities or sensory processing disorders and their caregivers. However, these special storytimes are designed for children of all abilities. No pre-registration is required.
Join us on June 2nd at the Lumpkin County Library for our Bring Your Own Technology sessions! This event will consist of patrons bringing their own technology—be it a laptop, phone, or tablet—and receiving one-on-one assistance using them from our Information Specialist, Anna Garland. Sessions will be an hour long, and patrons will need to schedule beforehand. Available time slots will be 1:30-2:30 PM, 2:45-3:45 PM, and 4:00-5:00 PM. Description:Gather to work on your current project and have a fun time with fellow needlework fanatics! Whether you like crochet, knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, quilting, or anything in between, this group is open to all! Beginners welcome! (However there is no instructor.) This club is for ages 18 and up, completely free and open to the public.

Reading to dogs helps children build self confidence in a comfortable, accepting environment. This is an opportunity for your child to practice his or her reading skills for fifteen minutes, working one-on-one with a therapy dog and his or her trainer. Scratch Coding is a visual coding language designed specifically for children, and is the perfect starting place for kids interested in learning how to code. This two-week course is Monday, June 6 through Thursday, June 9 and Monday, June 13 through Thursday, June 16 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. each day.
This class is open to rising 3rd through rising 8th graders. Participants should have basic keyboarding skills and a basic knowledge of computers. Parents will need to sign a permission form for their child. Registration is required.
It’s never too early to chew on a good book! This program is designed for babies (along with parent) from birth to 23 months. We’ll be creating building blocks of early literacy through songs, action rhymes, books, and playtime. These are wonderful times for your babies to hear lots of language, and a great opportunity for you to meet new parents! (Structured activity for 15 minutes with playtime after). Book Babies Lapsit will be held Tuesdays at 11 am. (June 7, 14, 21 & 28).
